If you can help others do so, if you cannot help others at least do not harm them.

If you can live a life whereby you do the most good and least harm, you are able to live a meaningful life, find inner peace and be an example to others.

How do Education & Indoctrination affect a Persons Beliefs

Education:

The act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.

Once a full and broad education has been obtained a person is then equipped to research and teach themselves further, gain wisdom, and live a valuable intelligent life.

Indoctrination:

To teach somebody a belief, doctrine, or ideology thoroughly and systematically through constant repetition, especially with the goal of discouraging independent thought or the acceptance of other opinions.

The indoctrinated or brainwashed person then tends to become bigoted, fanatical, and generally lives a narrow life isolated from the full diversity and intellectual richness of the wider world.

Quotations

"To teach superstitions as truths is a most terrible thing. The child mind accepts and believes them, and only through great pain and perhaps tragedy can he be in after years relieved of them. In fact, men will fight for a superstition quite as quickly as for a living truth — often more so..."

Hypatia c. AD 415

"...spreading a philosophy by means of free discussion among thinking adults is long and complex, it has been the dream of some to circumvent this process and, instead, to inject an ideology directly into the unformed minds of children. In this way one may capture an entire generation without intellectual resistance."

If you are only allowed to read what everyone else reads, you will only be able to think what everyone else thinks.

For an educated person to choose a belief is one thing, for an uneducated person to be forced into a belief is quite another.
